How to Play the Country Flags Quiz
How well do you know the flags of the world? You might recognise the UK, France or Japan at a glance. Then a familiar mix of colours, stripes or stars makes you look twice. The Flags topic on A Shop for Quiz turns those details into a quick game you can play alone or with friends.

More than 190 flags to recognise
The visual Flags quiz draws from a catalogue of more than 190 flag images from countries and territories. Each question shows one flag and four possible answers. Its answer choices have been checked so lookalike flags are not placed together when the images would be indistinguishable.
These rounds use the flag catalogue rather than generating new flag questions as you play. After each answer, a short explanation names the flag and points out features such as its colours, layout or emblem. It helps you notice what to look for next time; it is not a full account of the flag’s history or symbolism.
How to play the Flags quiz solo
Start on the homepage, choose Solo, then find Flags in the Geography topics. On the next page, choose your difficulty, the number of questions and the time allowed for each answer. You can play 10, 15 or 20 questions with a 10, 15 or 20 second answer window.
- Look closely
- When the flag appears, compare its stripes, colours, symbols and layout with the four answers before the timer runs out.
- Learn from the reveal
- After you answer, read the explanation and see which details distinguish that flag. Continue through the round to see your result.
- Try a harder round
- Easy offers more contrast between answers. Medium and hard bring in closer visual alternatives, so small details matter more.
How to host a multiplayer Country Flags quiz
For a shared challenge, choose Multiplayer on the homepage and select Geography → Flags. Set the difficulty, question count and answer time, then enter a room name and your nickname. Create the room and send its invite link or code to your group.
A room supports up to 20 players including the host, for free and without sign-up. Once at least one friend has joined, the host starts the match. Everyone sees the same flags on the same timer. The answer reveal and scores make it easy to compare who spotted the details first.
Make your next round a challenge
Start with 10 easy questions if your group is new to flag quizzes. Move to medium or hard when everyone is ready for closer lookalikes. For a classroom, work social or game night, try a second round and see who improves after reading the explanations.
Compare scores after the first round, then switch difficulty and see whether the details you noticed help the next time.
