Privacy policy

Effective

Play anonymously: no real name, email address or phone number is required. Use a nickname in multiplayer. We use game and usage data to run the app and improve your experience, as explained below.

Scheduled quizzes and optional reminders

Scheduling stores the event title, quiz settings, start time, time zone and host guest identity in Supabase. Invitation links can be viewed by anyone you share them with. Keep your private host-management link to yourself. Completed event details are deleted after 30 days. If a guest answers Yes or No to a scheduled quiz, we store the event, that guest’s anonymous sign-in ID and their answer, with no name or email, so the invitation can show how many friends are going. Only the number of Yes answers is shown. Answers are cleared when the host changes the start time and removed seven days after the event. If you request reminders, we store your email privately and send a confirmation link through Resend. After you confirm, you receive reminders and event updates for that event only, with a stop-reminders link in each email. No email is required to play, and we do not use reminder addresses for marketing or show them to the host or other players. Unconfirmed requests expire within 24 hours; reminder email data is removed from our database seven days after the event. Resend processes email content, recipient addresses and delivery records under its own retention policy.

Room chat and safety reports

Room members can chat in the lobby and after a multiplayer game. Chat stores the message, nickname, room membership and time so members can read it and hosts can mute or remove disruptive players. Ordinary messages are removed with the room, which expires after 24 hours. Reported messages and the reporting guest identity are kept privately for up to 30 days for abuse review. Chat, reminder addresses and private invitation links are not included in analytics or operational logs. Please keep contact details and personal information out of chat.

Improving the platform

Vercel Web Analytics counts visits, room creation, game scheduling, quiz starts and generation failures. We record categories and topics, including custom topics, to understand what people enjoy and improve reliability. These quiz events have no separate player identity fields. Please keep personal and contact information out of custom topics. Analytics URLs exclude query details and private room codes. The database also keeps permanent aggregate start counts by solo or multiplayer mode, category and normalized topic, plus a separate aggregate count of scheduled games. It does not attach names, emails, phone numbers, room codes or player identifiers to those totals; temporary deduplication keys are removed after seven days.

Anonymous feedback

After a quiz, you can send a rating and optional comment from the results screen. We record the solo or multiplayer mode you played and the topic you played, along with the rating and comment. A listed topic is recorded by name; for a topic you typed yourself we record the text, after removing unsupported characters, so we can see which subjects people rate. We do not automatically attach your name, email address, phone number, nickname, room, questions, answers or score to feedback. Please do not include personal information in a topic or in the optional comment.

Question reports

After an answer is revealed, you can report a problem with that question by choosing a reason such as “Wrong answer”. We store only an anonymous question reference, the reason and whether you were playing solo or multiplayer. Reports contain no comment, name, nickname, room, answers or score, and are deleted after 180 days.

Sharing results

When you choose to share a solo result, we create a link and score-card image showing your score, the number of questions, the difficulty and a listed topic name. Custom topics appear only as “a custom quiz”: your topic text is never included. The link does not contain your name or any account details. Anyone you send it to can open it, and it is hidden from search engines. Sharing uses your device's share options or the site you pick, and we only count that a result was shared.

Playing and browser storage

Multiplayer uses a nickname, room details, quiz settings, answers, scores and technical identifiers to run the game through Supabase. Essential cookies maintain room access. Your browser remembers your nickname and question IDs to reduce repeats; question history expires after 30 days. Expired rooms are removed through scheduled cleanup, and unused anonymous authentication records may be removed after 30 days.

If you schedule a quiz, your browser keeps its private host link, a secret token, in local storage so reopening the invitation there brings your host controls back. It is removed once the invitation closes, or after 100 days, and clearing your site data removes it sooner. We cannot recover a host link you have lost, so copy it from the invitation page if you want to use another device.

To carry your custom topic from the homepage to settings, we save up to 10 drafts in the current tab's session storage. Drafts expire after one hour and are removed the next time draft storage is used. If that storage is blocked or unavailable, drafts stay temporarily in page memory instead and may be lost on reload. Choosing a topic does not sign you in or submit it to the server. The topic is submitted when you explicitly start a solo quiz or create a room.

Generating questions and hosting

OpenAI receives your topic and quiz settings to generate questions. Curated questions may be cached privately for up to 30 days; custom questions are never added to that reusable bank. When extended repeat protection is enabled, issued custom questions may be kept privately for up to 30 days only to avoid repeats, without a player identity. Hosting providers, including Vercel, may process IP addresses, browser information and error logs to operate and secure the service.

Homepage advertising

When enabled, Google AdSense and its partners use cookies or similar identifiers, IP addresses, device information and page URLs to serve and measure homepage ads. Ads may be personalized using browsing activity, depending on your consent and settings. Consent choices are provided where required, separately from essential game storage. You can clear saved game data in your browser settings and contact us with privacy questions or deletion requests for information we can identify. The app is not directed to children under 13. We update the date above when this policy changes.
